Michael Thomas Gargiulo, 32, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to the charges of stabbing and killing two women, one of whom was a former girlfriend of Ashton Kutcher. The murderer who is from Santa Monica now faces two counts of murder and two counts of burglary.
Gargiulo killed Ashley Ellerin, 22, an ex-girlfriend of Ashton Kutcher, and Maria Bruno, 32, in Monterey Park. Anthony Salerno, Gargiulo’s attorney, said that the killer is adamant he was not involved. Jane Robinson, spokesman for the district attorney’s office, added that the judge made no decision about the death penalty.
Ashley Ellerin’s body was found inside her home in Hollywood Hills in February 2001 and Maria Bruno was found in Dec ember 2005 stabbed in her apartment. Gargiulo pleaded not guilty of the two crimes.
The reason for which the killer was in court on Thursday was that he was charged with an attempt of murder and burglary during a knife attack on a woman from Santa Monica on April 28. He was arrested in July and has to pay $1,1 million bail for the knife attack.
Still, the man pleaded not guilty for this too. The connection of all three attacks was that the women were living next to his house and they were stabbed inside their homes. Gargiulo is suspected by the police to have committed other crimes of this type.
The authorities link Gargiulo with another crime occurred in 1993 in the Chicago suburb of Glenview when Tricia Pacaccio was found dead on her doorstep.
