Jimmy Kimmel Loses His Appendix
Television comedy talk-show host, comedian and producer James Christian "Jimmy" Kimmel required an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday night in L.A., TMZ reports. His rep told them Jimmy "is resting comfortably and is looking forward to getting back to work."

"The rest of this week's tapings of Jimmy Kimmel Live have been canceled until he is back on his feet," Kay said to E!. Jimmy Kimmel Live will run old episodes with Geoffrey Rush, Mary Lynn Rajskub of 24, Kevin Costner and Leslie Mann. No plans have been set in case Jimmy Kimmel is out four a longer period of time, which is hardly expected.

Kimmel's TV career began as the comedic sidekick to Ben Stein on the game show Win Ben Stein's Money which aired on Comedy Central in 1997. The pair eventually earned an Emmy award for Best Game Show Host. In 2003, Kimmel left The Man Show to host his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.

Kimmel began dating comedian Sarah Silverman in late 2002 and has a son, Kevin, and a daughter, Katie, with his ex-wife, Gina. He is a good personal friend with Howard Stern. His girlfriend, Silverman, stars in and produces the The Sarah Silverman Program, which debuted February 1, 2007 on Comedy Central.

"I'm Jewish but, I wear this Saint Christopher medal sometimes, my boyfriend [Kimmel] is Catholic—but you know … it was cute the way he gave it to me. He said if it doesn't burn a hole through my skin it will protect me," Silverman said of Kimmel.
