Angelina’s “Quite Happy” Life
Angelina’s “Quite Happy” Life
Angelina Jolie says she and partner Brad Pitt are very careful to spend special time with each of their four children and to keep the family unity and harmony.

In an interview for Reader’s Digest, the beautiful Angelina Jolie gracefully shared some details about her family life. She confessed that she had not planned to have biological children until Brad convinced her.

“I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. (Brad) told me he hadn't given up that thought. Then, after Z came home (from Ethiopia), I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved them, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat.”

Angelina adopted Cambodia-born Maddox, now 5, when she was still married to actor Billy Bob Thornton. It was during her relationship with superstar Brad Pitt that she adopted a second child, this time a girl from Ethiopia, which she named Zahara.

In May 2006, Angelina gave birth to her and Brad’s biological daughter, which they named Shiloh. The fourth child to enter the family is Pax, a 3-year-old boy from Vietnam. All four children bear the Jolie-Pitt name.

In the June issue of Reader's Digest, Angelina says that her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died in January, lived long enough to see her “grow up to be quite happy.”

The actress also talked about the schedule she and Brad try to make up so all children get to spend special time with their parents.

“We've tried to figure out a lot of private time for each of them. When everybody goes to bed, we give Mad time. When everybody is at school, we give Shiloh time. In between, Z and Pax each get special time. And on Sundays, we have a big family sleep,” which means that the whole family stays in bed and watches a movie. “We're talking about having to build a bigger bed!”

Angelina also explained that after Shiloh was born, “somebody in the house looked like Mommy and Daddy. It became clear to us that it might be important to have somebody around who is similar to the other children so they have a connection.”

Which is why she and Brad adopted Pax this year in March.
