Australian stocks slid Friday in keeping with the pervading gloom in the United States and Europe.
The ASX 200 slipped 63 points, or 1.3 per cent, to 4,695.
Shares fell across the board, with mining stocks in the red because of fears the financial crisis will affect the wider economy.
