Optimistic Leaders about the Bailout List

A revised $700 billion financial industry rescue bill made the U.S. House Democratic leaders to become more and more optimistic. The bill which was released by the Senate will clear the House of Representatives that rejected the bailout this week and also rocked the finances all around the world. Steny Hoyer, the House Majority Leader, said that the rescue bill which will bail out Wall Street will be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives and then put to the vote.

The House Majority Leader was very satisfied and "hopeful that there will be bi-partisan majority support" for the new legislation and that the new bill has closed the door for the leaders of the Democrats.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker, announced on Thursday that she won’t schedule the debate until she is certain there are enough votes to pass it. Pelosi also added that they were not “going to take a bill to the floor that doesn't have the votes. I'm optimistic that we will take a bill to the floor."

Still, a group from the House of Republicans insisted for an amendment that would have made the bill decrease to $250 billion. The Democrats fought their proposal and on Monday two thirds of the Republicans voted against the bill and 60% of the Democrats voted for it.

Lawmakers were influenced to vote against the bill after they had started to receive different calls from taxpayers saying that they shouldn’t be asked to bail out Wall Street. President Bush and congressional leaders started to make a clearer plan about the bailout, adding that the credit freeze began to annoy the consumers and the businesses who seek loans.
