Casino Bus Crash Kills 7 and Injures 30 Others

California Highway Patrol has released a statement saying that seven people were killed and 30 others were wounded last night after a bus which was carrying casino-bound gamblers had got off the road near Colusa County town of Williams and rolled over. CHP Dispatcher Terry Troth said that "the (bus) was northbound on Lonestar Road in the vicinity of Abel Road when it ran off the road for unknown reasons and rolled over."

Seven passengers were pronounced dead later in the night and it wasn’t clear how many passengers were in the bus at the beginning. The bus was coming from Sacramento and was heading for Colusa Casino resort in Colusa County. The accident occurred at about 6:12 p.m. at 60 miles north of Sacramento and the victims were taken to different hospitals around the area.

Troth stated that there were a lot of misunderstandings of the event because all the passengers were speaking Spanish. It seems that there weren’t any other vehicles involved in the accident and the area where it had occurred is a primarily farm land.

The CHP and the National Transportation Safety Board are inspecting the accident to discover its causes. The name of the bus driver wasn’t released yet but he survived the terrible crash and taken to the Woodland Memorial Hospital together with seven other victims.

It seems that Greyhound Lines owned the bus, but Kim Plaskett, a spokeswoman, stated that it “is not our bus, we sold it more than two years ago. It is an old bus.”

From the headline "...Injures Thousands" to the statement that they passengers "...were speaking Latin", this is job of very poor reporting.
