Apple Inc. has eventually
announced the release date of its new Macintosh operating system, Leopard. The
new version of the Mac OS X operating system will hit the market starting with
the 26th of October 2007. This way Apple Inc. has eventually ended
all the contradictory rumors that have been floating on the different
Mac-orientated web sites and blogs and not only.
As Apple Inc. has already delayed
the release of the new operating system, different sources have started to have
contradictory opinions about whether Apple Inc. will be able to launch Leopard
in October, as promised, or not. The controversy has started also because Apple
has not made any public announcement till now, the 16th of October.
However, the irony that one could
find related to Leopard is the fact that Apple Inc. has delayed its launch
because the company’s teams’ work on the iPhone, which is now the main topic of
one of the most problematic controversies ever. Recently, Apple Inc. has really
upset its clients because of its moves with the iPhone. The company’s first
iPhone software update has frozen the ultimate gadgets and the customers have
been quite maddened by this move. On Monday Apple has also been gunned by
another institution; Greenpeace has said that their research has proved that
the iPhone is quite a toxic phone.
However, maybe Leopard will be
capable of helping Apple’s image. Leopard represents the sixth update of the
company’s Mac OS X software. The operating system will cost $129 for one single
user, and $199 for a family pack for five computers.
"This is going to be great
for Mac momentum, which has already been strong for the past few year years.
This is just one more thing on top of that.” – Phil Schiller, the company’s
vice president of marketing, has said.
