Five men from the United
Kingdom were kidnapped in Baghdad
from the Iraqi Finance Ministry, British officials in the Middle
East country confirmed Tuesday.
About 40 men wearing camouflage uniforms, similar to the ones
wore by Iraqi police, blocked the street and abducted four bodyguards and their
client right under the eyes of the finance ministry guards, people who
witnessed the scene said quoted by BBC.
The identity of the kidnapped person wasn’t revealed yet, but
it’s supposed he was either a diplomat or an important person, due to the scale
of the entire operation and the presumably highly-trained kidnappers. According
to a correspondent of the same British media giant, the kidnappers could be
part of a renegade police unit or a commando of some sort.
No demands have been made until now, as the authorities try to
get in touch with the abductors and quickly resolve the issue. Similar
preparations are taking place in the United
Kingdom, the British officials hoping to end
the crisis in a swift and clean manner, without any fatalities.
This is the last act in this category from a very long series
that goes on for years in Iraq.
Even Prince Harry was the alleged target of a kidnapping plot if he would have
been deployed in the war-torn country along with his army unit, the Blues and
Royals.
