A-list Stars Trying to Avoid Hepatitis A

A bunch of A-list stars might have got hepatitis A, after a bartender at actor Ashton Kutcher’s 30th birthday party was found to have this highly infectious disease. Unfortunately for them, hepatitis A is not something we can’t escape just like that, because you’re a Hollywood star and everyone saw you in many popular movies. Kutcher’s 30th birthday party at the Socialista club in the West Village will always be remembered as a more or less hilarious moment.

After the health officials and the clubbers found out about this problem, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene hurried to offer free vaccines through Sunday to any person who had been to the Manhattan club during the city’s Fashion Week. It seems that more than 700 had to receive the vaccine in order to try to avoid the highly infectious liver disease. The event was reportedly attended by many celebrities, including Madonna, Ivanka Trump, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and others.

According to health officials, the hepatitis A can be easily transmitted if the one who suffers from it does not wash his or her hands properly. Furthermore, the fact that the Socialista bartender had been handling food and drinks, glasses and garnishes, aggravated the situation.

"Most people recover within a few weeks with bed rest and avoiding alcoholic beverages," said Jessica Scaperotti, a health department spokeswoman. Scaperotti, however, recommended that people who attended the event should be vaccinated within two weeks of exposure.
