Apparently kids today are more able to make the difference
between right and wrong. Or at least Barack Obama’s two daughters are in
command of this essential ability.
In a cover story interview that appears this week in “Us
Weekly” magazine, Obama talks about a series of unserious matters, leaving
behind the economic issues or the Iraq war. We cannot blame him for
talking about issues such as pop culture icons, as about these “Us” wanted to
discover more. However, we can learn that his views in entertainment matters
are consistent with his political orientation.
Asked is his daughter Malia and Sasha ever ask about
tabloids’ favorite target, Britney Spears, Obama explains that his two young
ladies, aged 9 and 6, are not really keen about media hunted Britney or Paris
Hilton or other bad girls like them. However, her daughters are really
enthusiastic about Hannah Montana or Beyonce.
“They’re pretty down on Britney and Paris and all of that.
They think they’re very ‘yuck,’” Obama said. “They’re way more into Hannah
Montana and Beyonce,” he said. And Obama went further and explained to the
celebrity magazine that Malia, 9, and six-year old Sasha derive their love for
Beyonce from meeting her once backstage. It appears to have been love at first
sight, as he said, as that opportunity made them to “just love her to
death.”
The Democratic presidential contender denied ever being
starstruck, but confessed that his wife had a crush on Stevie Wonder. He
disclosed that he jokes with his wife about an incident at one of their events,
when the artist fell off the stage, just to tease her.
Apart from obviously considering himself the best for
becoming the 44th President at the White House, Obama thinks that he is “a cool
dad.” His argument to demonstrate that was that he would never do anything to
embarrass his daughters and exemplifies with his dance in his October
appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Well, after this interview, it’s most probable that Obama
lost the votes from Britney Spears’ fans.
