Fans Give Advise to Their Future “Idols”

Since the very beginning of Fox’s seven season of “American Idol,” on January 15, 2008, this show has attracted an amazing number of viewers. This has brought the network channel which hosts the series the greatest ratings of all American shows, according to Nielsen Records. From its first season in 2002 “Idol,” has brought together young people willing to become professional singers. Of course, besides its ups, the show also had its downs. Some contestants were disqualified for some reasons that had nothing to do with their talent in singing. Well…one might say that as a public figure, you must have a clean past. But let’s face it…we all do mistakes and we all deserve a second chance.

This season, however, the producers decided that they should be more soft-hearted so they didn’t take into consideration David Hernandez’s past as a stripper. Anyway, during the show the public has made its choice. They were the ones who voted who were the ones to stay and the ones to pack their bags. Now that the end is near, the fans have something to say for their future “idols:” David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado.

From the beginning of the show the TV Freak blog has dedicated a part of their site for fans to comment on the “American Idol” contestants’ performances. But now, fans have put the stress in giving the three finalists a piece of advice. Let’s take for example 46-year-old Rob Miller who said that Castro’s departure from the competition was the best thing to happen, as well as Mercado’s success in remaining in the final three. Rob's advice: “Syesha, keep doing the big songs, play the diva (even if you're acting). Play to your strengths -- your voice and your good looks. David Archuleta, do something different. Anything. And try to develop a personality. David Cook, honestly all you have to do is ‘not screw up.’ The alternative is to do something really bold. Remember when Bo Bice sang a cappella?”

There were also some impartial viewers who gave their advice to all three contestants equally. Among them, we have 76-year-old Patti Compton who thinks that “All three finalists need to carefully analyze past performances. What type of song and interpretation brought praise from the judges, especially the all-wise Simon? You've got to walk a thin line between appearing confident and cocky.”

When it comes to the all-time season’s favorite, David Archuleta, who was recently forced to face the rest of the show without his father accompanying him during rehearsals the fans, had some different opinions. For example, one fan called Charlie said: I question if three ballads can get it done with Syesha nipping at his heels and capable of bringing excitement to the stage. David doesn't have to break out of his box, but letting viewers know the box is a little larger than he's been letting on would be a good idea. Playing it safe has worked so far, but he can't count on it any longer.” On the other hand there is Don who believes that: “He has apparently never heard a melody that he didn't think was in dire need of over-embellishment. But his best bet might be to keep on playing it safe as milk and let the other two crash 'n' burn on the rocky shoals of their ambitions.”
