According to a recent survey organized by the virtual world Habbo, it
seems that teenagers between 11 to 18 years old prefer to use the console Sony
PlayStation 3.
Sixty-nine of the 58,368 teenagers who were interviewed considered the
PS3 either “great”, either “good.” The next console on their taste was the
Nintendo Wii, according to 64% of the persons surveyed. And finally, the
Microsoft Xbox360 was preferred only by 58% of them.
This does not correspond to the ownership statistics at all. According
to these, 24% of the persons interviewed own a Wii, 23% an Xbox 360 and 21% a
PS3. However, taking into consideration the words of Emmi Kuusikko, Director of
User and Market Insight at Sulake, the company that runs the Habbo world, it
seems that “the level of ownership does not correspond to the consoles'
popularity.”
Another issue revealed by the survey was that gender and previous gaming
experience determine console choice. “Regardless of their level of interest towards
gaming boys prefer the PS3 and girls prefer the Wii," added Emmi Kuusikko.
Moreover it seems that the geographical factor is also important. Europe
and Asia are not as much big fans of Xbox 360 as the United States.
