Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler into Rehab Clinic

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, often nicknamed The Demon of Screaming, checked himself into Las Encinas Hospital’s rehab clinic in Pasadena, Calif., seeking treatment for substance abuse.

The clinic is featured in “Celebrity Rehab,” the reality show hosted by Dr. David Drew Pinsky.

The musician’s representatives had no comment.

Tyler, 60, father of actress Liv Tyler, once said “Four rehabilitation centers for drug abuse later, I've been able to take a long, hard look at my behaviour.”

The musician will receive treatment for substance abuse two years after he publicly revealed he’d been diagnosed with hepatitis C. It is not know how he contracted it, but it is known that users who inject illicit drugs can transmit the disease by sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia. He endured a series of throat surgeries, two foot surgeries and also 11 months of treatment for his hepatitis C diagnosis. After keeping his disease secret for many years, Tyler said he wanted to share the experience and knowledge with others.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Tyler was known for his drug and alcohol abuse. Due to the fact, he and his friend, the guitarist Joe Perry were nicknamed “the Toxic Twins.” The Demon of Screaming had collapsed onstage during several performances in the early 1980s and had long suffered a heroin addiction.

Tyler managed to successfully overcome his problems and up to the recent news he had over 20 years of sobriety.
