“The Simpsons” voice casts reached a new deal with 20th
Century Fox TV and Homer’s voice, Dan Castellaneta has been named consulting
producer, Reuters reports. It appears that the voice actors are reportedly
getting a salary increase to approximately $400,000 per episode for the next
four years.
Castellaneta and most of the other key “Simpsons” voice
players -- Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa)
and Hank Azaria (Moe) are expected to begin work on the upcoming 20th season
Tuesday.
Because of the late start, the upcoming season of “The
Simpsons” has been reduced by two episodes to 20, instead of the usual 22, the
same source reports.
Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company created “The Simpsons”
sitcom. The satirical parody of the middle class American family has five major
characters, as Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Since its debut on December
17, 1989, the show won dozens of awards, including 23 Emmy Awards. “The
Simpsons” was named by “Time” magazine the 20th century’s best
television series, and in 2000, it was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame.
Homer’s “D'oh!” made it into the Oxford English Dictionary
in 2001. All told, the franchise has generated a reported $1 billion in
revenue.
