Apple’s WWDC 2008 – One Weekend Away

On June 9, San Francisco will host the 2008 edition of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. The event is stirring up quite a lot of interest as several new products are expected to be launched on this very special occasion.

The most anticipated device is probably the new 3G version of the iPhone. Apple said it would produce at least 11 million 3G iPhones by the end of the third quarter of 2008. This new phone will operate on AT&T’s faster network, which will provide Internet users with a significant speed boost. The range of its uses will be diversified even further, as it will also feature GPS navigation. The device could be made available for a surprisingly low price; according to Fortune, it could start at around $199 (keep in mind the fact that the current versions’ price tags read $399 and $499).

As it is scheduled for release next year, a Mac OS X 10.6 preview is also expected to be delivered. At the end of May, the company released a massive security update for its Mac OS X 10.5.3, that took care of more than 40 compatibility and security flaws that were affecting a series of applications, including Address Book, VoiceOver, AirPort, Automator, Parental Controls, Spaces, Time Machine, iCal, iChat and Mail.
