Taco Bell Prank Fame – Built(!) and then Brought Down(?) by YouTube

A Florida judge has given a rather surprising sentence when he made the two YouTube pranksters upload a video apology on the same website that made them famous.

As they thought what they did was hilarious, the two boys, aged 15 and 16, posted a video of themselves throwing a soft drink at a Taco Bell employee, at a restaurant in Merritt Island, east of Orlando.

The video attracted serious traffic and, among the viewers, there was also the fast-food employee, Jessica Ceponis. That was the moment when she decided to take legal action.

"They were bragging about what they had done and how funny it was," Ms Ceponis said after having watched the video.
As the trial came to an end, the teenagers were sentenced to one hundred hours of community service, 30-dollar-fines each and most importantly, they had to record a video apology and post it on the Internet.

The charges, which include two counts of battery and one of criminal mischief, will be dropped as soon as the community service is finished and the two send their victim a written apology.

Ms Ceponis feels that the punishment could have been a bit harsher, as she finds the video the two had to post is making them look like heroes, rather than teaching anyone a valuable lesson.
