More than 100 stars have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including “Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen, French Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, who won the best-actress Oscar in February for her role in “La Vie En Rose,” Ruby Dee, Jet Li, Josh Brolin, Allison Janney, Ray Winstone, Jason Reitman, a best-director nominee for last year’s “Juno” and Diabolo Cody, the writer of the film, who won the original screen-play Oscar.

Cohen was nominated last year for writing “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” Ruby Dee was a supporting-actress nominee for last year’s “American Gangster.”

Other notable names include: Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity”), Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”) and Gore Verbinski (“The Pirates of the Caribbean” movies); writers Judd Apatow (“The 40-Year-Old Virgin”), Jeff Nathanson (“Catch Me If You Can”) and Tamara Jenkins (“The Savages”); and animators Ash Brannon (“Surf’s Up”) and David Silverman (“The Simpsons Movie”), the Associated Press noted.

“These individuals are all incredibly talented and a credit to the world of filmmaking. They exemplify the high standards of the Academy and I welcome each and every one of them to our ranks,” Academy President Sid Ganis said in a statement. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has almost 6,000 voting members.
