Raffaello Follieri, the former boyfriend of Anne Hathaway, was rushed to the hospital after his New York court appearance on fraud and money laundering charges.

„He had an episode in the courtroom which lead to him being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation,” rep Melanie A. Bonvicino says, according to People.

The 29 year-old Italian businessman is in stable condition and undergoing treatment, according to the same source. It appears that Raffaello Follieri was hospitalized for a severe sinus infection. He suffered from a sinus infection for the past three weeks, according to his rep.

Follieri, who broke up Anne Hathaway recently, was charged with fraud and money laundering after he apparently convinced investors that he could buy properties from the Roman Catholic Church because he was the Vatican’s chief financial officer. Follieri operates The Follieri Foundation, which works to fund vaccinations for children in the developing world. Follieri’s former girlfriend Anne Hathaway, 25, was a member of the foundation’s board until last year and traveled around the world with the charity. But her former beau will have to fight his criminal trial alone.

The judge set a $21 million bail for Follieri and placed him under home detention. “We are working vigorously to fulfill the requirements of the bail package,” says Bonvichino, according to People.
