The new show, “Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…” will be on air on CTV in Canada, Channel 4 in the U.K. and on the Sundance Channel in the U.S. The first episode of the series will debut on December 3, this year, and will gather round important musicians, to talk about…music and its importance. The spectacle has taped four episodes of a planned 13-program run. Each episode will last for an hour and among the guests we will meet former president and saxophonist Bill Clinton. He will not perform on the sax during the show but he will talk about how music shaped his early career aspiration. Still, a broadcast schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but Bill Clinton, Tony Bennett, Lou Reed and Elton John will be the guests for the first four episodes, participating on a one-on-one discussion with Elvis Costello. There will also be live collaborations with the musicians, like Elton John is supposed to do, according to the production company. Other guests confirmed for this season of the show include Pete Thomas, Steve Nieve and Davey Faragher of the Imposters, James Burton, who played with Elvis Presley, Allen Toussaint and Pat Metheny, jazz guitarist, who won 17 Grammy Awards. The host of the show, Elvis Costello, received an honorary doctorate in music at the University of Liverpool, on Thursday. Costello reported for the Liverpool Daily Post that he is “slightly humbled to receive it in the company of those who have actually been working hard for their degrees.”
