On Wednesday, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. unveiled its new YouTube-friendly digital camcorder. The device features a special recording mode, especially designed to facilitate online video-sharing on the very popular website. The SC-MX20 compact camcorder, following the SC-MX10 series, packs a 680,000-pixel image sensor capable of offering a 720 x 480 pixel resolution; it also features 34x optical zoom. Potential buyers should also know about its noise reduction technology and its ability to correct the blurred up look the image usually gets when the camera is moved while recording. When the YouTube mode is selected, the camcorder adjusts the resolution to 640 x 480 pixels. For further helping future directors to better express themselves, the device also delivers video-editing software. The SC-MX20 will be made available next month and will come in four colors (black, blue, red, white). It is expected to reach stores with the price of $280. It seems this will turn out to be quite a summer for Samsung. Yesterday, the company announced it has started the mass production of its 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch multi-level cell-based solid state drives (SSDs) of 128GB capacity. Samsung officials expect to record an 800 percent sale increase for SSD units by 2010. Samsung currently has about 150,000 employees, scattered all over the world in 62 countries, and is divided into four different units: Digital Media Business, LCD Business, Semiconductor Business, and Telecommunication Business.
