Old justice maker RoboCop comes back! 2010 brings new adventures of the hero that was known as “part man, part machine and all cop.” New directors Darren Aronofsky and David Self plan to make RoboCop’s arrival a magnificent one.

MGM will present the new RoboCop and it’s expected to be the first success since Mary Parent leads the company.  Yet, the producers keep the plot into wraps, but it’s said that it will still represent the same sci-fi classic, this time in a noir direction.
First release of the film was produced by Phoenix Pictures’ Mike Medavoy and was released 21 years ago for Orion.

Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner were the first writers of RoboCop and the movie was produced by Paul Verhoeven. The same Phoenix Pictures will produce the new RoboCop alongside Brad Fischer, Arnold Messer and David Thwaites.

Original story of the half man, half robot is the one of a cop fatally wounded that comes back to the police as the most powerful robot haunted by his older memories. RoboCop’s story was released as a serial on TV in 1987 and as two films for the big screen.
Gains for MGM increased with $4.1 million from DVDs sold.

RoboCop’s image was particularly popular in Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. Now, Aronofsky and Self have decided to develop an installment in the life of the human-machine that could mean a big budget.

Creator of “Requiem for a Dream”, Aronofsky, together with David Self will draw RoboCop with his older story, adding his return to Detroit to fight crimes and corruption using a better technology and costs that reach $100 million. Still, the atmosphere and feel will resemble the first appearances of the movie.

New Robocop revival is announced in May at the Cannes Film Festival.
