A lot of things were said after Jeff Archuleta, David‘s father, was banned from participating at his son’s rehearsals. But, apparently things were misunderstood. As any lovable child, the all-time favorite of the seventh season of “American Idol” wanted to clear things out about his father. According to him, Jeff is not the monster that the media presented him to be. Actually, David is quite grateful to his father for all the help and support that the singer wannabe received from him.

“I’ve heard some weird things that people have been saying, and it’s kind of a bummer,” the contestant said according to Bostonherald.com. In addition, David said that his father is not the “stage father from hell” that the media makes him out to be. The 17-year-old contestant is really upset with this situation, because all of this stuff really affected his father.

Media reports said that Jeff Archuleta was banned from “Idol’s” backstage due to the fact that he pushed things too far when asking the producers to change the lyrics to “Stand by Me” by adding a verse of Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls.” This change obliged the show to pay also for the rights of the latter. Other rumors were that David’s father withheld water from his son during a recording session and drove him so hard he made David cry. To this the young contestant replied: “That’s kind of stupid. I’m 17! I think I’d be able to stand up for myself if he were to take my water away.”

Apparently, none of these rumors are in fact true and the real reason of the ban was caused by fairness to the other competitors who don’t receive help from outsiders. David’s voice coach told the Salt Lake Tribune that: “I have spoken to Jeff about all of this, and what he said to me is he is not ‘banned’ from the show,’ ” Dean Kaelin said. “What he was banned from - and I wouldn’t even call it that - is from the arranging sessions.”

Regardless to what people think, David wants them to stop attacking his father. “I don’t really care what people say, but I know it’s affected him,” he told TV Guide. David is among the three finalist of the competition. The other two are David Cook and Syesha Mercado.
