Comedian Bernie Mac Hospitalized in Chicago With Pneumonia
For the ones who don’t know who is Bernie Mac, let us do an introduction to this great comedian! Bernie Mac was two times nominated of the Emmy Award, as an American actor and comedian. He attended Chicago Vocational Career Academy and he started his career during high school, when he used to put up shows for the children in the neighborhood.

Bernie Mac started as a stand-up comedy actor in Cotton Club from Chicago. At the age of 32 he won the Miller Lite Comedy Search, but what did throw him into the spotlight was “Def Comedy Jam,” one of his performances on HBO. During his career, he became Bosley for the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

In 2000, he was touring the country as a stand-up comedy actor together with Steve Harvey and D.L. Hughley. In 2001, Fox offered Bernie Mac his first official show called The Bernie Mac Show, based on his own life.

Bernie Mac’s publicist said on Friday that the comedian has been hospitalized with pneumonia in Chicago. Bernie Mac, 50, seems to be responding just fine to all the treatments and he should be released very soon.

Bernie Mac also has sarcoidosis, which is a chronic disease that could inflame the tissue, especially in the lungs. But as his publicist added, his pneumonia is not related to the chronic disease that has been in remission since 2005. Bernie Mac has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis 20 years ago.
