Bernie Mac Suffers from Sarcoidosis; What Exactly Does This Disease?
Sarcoidosis or Besnier-Boeck disease is characterized as an immune system disorder which consists of small inflammatory nodules that mostly arise in young adults. Scientists haven’t discovered the exact cause of the disease. Still, any organ could be affected even if granulomas often appear in the lungs or the lymph nodes.

If the disease advances and destroys the organ, it may turn into a chronic condition that leads to death. It affects young adults of both sexes, but it seems to have preponderance for women. People younger than 40 and women with ages between 20 and 29 years may be at risk of getting the disease.

The symptoms of sarcoidosis may be chronic fatigue, lack of energy, weight loss, aches and pains, dry eyes, blurry vision, shortness of breath or skin lesions.

Bernie Mac, the great comedian, who was offered by Fox in 2001, his first official show called The Bernie Mac Show, based on his own life, has been hospitalized with pneumonia in Chicago. He seems to be responding just fine to all the treatments and he should be released very soon.

Bernie Mac also has sarcoidosis but, as his publicist said, his pneumonia is not related to the chronic disease that has been in remission since 2005. The comedian has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis 20 years ago. Bernie Mac entered the hospital last week and in spite of journalists who think he may die, doctors say he is just fine and he is waited to do a full recovery.
