Morgan Freeman will be honored at the Kennedy Center Awards together with Barbara Streisand. The gala will be held at Washington D.C. on December 7. The Kennedy Center awards each year figures from all around the world of arts for the contribution they have been bringing to the U.S. culture.
The Oscar-winner actor first appeared in a movie in 1971. Through “Who Says I Can’t Ride a Rainbow,” Morgan Freeman became well-known in the American media. Other roles like “Another World” or “The Electric Company” kept his success strongly tided with the entire Hollywood world. Since 1980, the actor played in films which offered him the reputation for wise and fatherly characters.
The lead role from “Jurassic Park” in 1991 made Morgan Freeman go the Museum of Natural History to see if those beasts really existed. He implied himself in every character and gained success through his work and talent. “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” kept him in the spotlights.
Other honored starts this year at the Kennedy Center Awards will be country musician George Jones and choreographer Twyla Tharp. Barbara Streisand said that she was "humbled and thrilled" to be included on the roll of honor. All the winners will be awarded by President George Bush and first lady Laura Bush during a White House reception.
The gala will take place after the presidential election but before the new president takes his place.
