Overeating Can Throw Off One’s Metabolism

A new study has proved that curbing inflammation in some part of the brain can help in keeping the weight down. The most known weight problem is obesity and this disease increases inflammation inside all the body. The new study can show that the brain inflammation might be a weapon to fight obesity. The tomorrow edition of  “ Cell” will give further information about the new study.

The scientists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of California, San Diego, tracked two things: the hypothalamus, which is a brain region that gives the body its energy balance, and the “master switch” of inflammation which is IKK beta/NF kappa B and it’s usually stopped from working.

The researchers also used mice to see the practical view of their discovery. This way, they found out that the “master switch” of inflammation turned on the hypothalamus of the mice on a high-fat diet. . "Chronic overnutrition" is what the researchers concluded. The mice gained weight and also became resistant to insulin, the hormone which controls the blood sugar levels and also to the substances that gives the sensation of full stomach.

The researchers stated that if they can figure out how to control that switch in the hypothalamus they might learn how to stop obesity and any other related diseases. Well, until they manage to discover this, let’s keep on jogging and avoid fats to escape the overweight.
