Tom Ford, 47, left the fashion world because he wanted to begin a career at Hollywood. Ford decided to leave behind him the thing that made him famous and he will form his own production company named Fade to Black beginning next year. He announced on Wednesday that he made his first deal to direct a movie which is called “A Single Man.” The movie stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode and the shootings will begin on Monday. The action of the movie is set back in 1962 and is about a college professor who tries to handle the loss of his 16-year life partner. Among the producers there will also be Weitz, Andrew Miano and Robert Salerno. Ford left Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent in 2004 but he made some short returns to the world he most loves. He made a partnership with Estee Lauder and he created sunglasses, menswear brands and menswear stores. But Ford also tried to combine the movies with the fashion and created the James Bond wardrobe for the latest movie series “Quantum of Solace.” The famous 47-year-old designer began his career when he insisted so much in getting to know the American designer Cathy Hardwick. Even if nothing was settled back then, in 1981, Ford moved to Perry Ellis, where he met Robert McDonald and Marc Jacobs. He worked for them for two years until he got tired of the American fashion. He began working for Gucci and his career kept rising. In 1992, the design director, Richard Lambertson, left the company and Ford came to take his place.
