American Idol Season 8 Arrives On iPhone, iPod Touch
The iPhone and iPod touch users are getting a new application today with the introduction of American Idol Season 8. The app intends to follow the song-contest participants on their way to being named American Idol, by offering exclusive multimedia content and constant updates.

“American Idol is one of the premiere entertainment brands around the world, with a television franchise that is unrivaled,” said Ken Willner, Zumobi CEO. “Zumobi is thrilled to partner with FremantleMedia Enterprises, 19 Entertainment and FOX on the development of this exclusive app for iPhone and iPod touch and we’re proud to make it available to millions of Idol fans throughout The Zumobi Network.”

The American Idol contest has gained quite a reputation along the years, gathering millions of viewers and breaking all records. Winning the contest is like a free gold ticket to stardom, and it should come as no surprise that people would want to keep in touch with the latest news about it on their phones.

“The new application puts iPhone and iPod touch users in the driver’s seat and allows them to engage with the show anytime they want,” said David Luner, senior vice president, Interactive & Consumer Products, FremantleMedia Enterprises, North America.

The application, which will be available exclusively on Apple’s App Store for $1.99, will offer users their chance to test their talent-picking abilities by predicting, customizing and tracking who remains in the competition.

Furthermore, users will also be able to download music from recent performances, and will have access to 78 original videos of the remaining contestants, which will be released weekly until the grand finale.
