The Senators and Emery Agree on Three-Year Deal
The Ottawa Senators and goal keeper Ray Emery agreed on a three-year deal on Tuesday avoiding salary arbitration. The will earn Ray Emery about $9.5 million making him one of the highest paid goalies in the NHL, the Ottawa Sun wrote.

The 24-year-old former restricted free agent will be paid $2.75 million next season, $3.25 million in 2008-2009 and $3.5 million in 2009-2010. The annual average of $3.16 million is quite a big raise over the $925,000 he was paid last season.

Emery let the Senators to their first ever Stanley Cup final last season. They eventually lost the title to the Anaheim Ducks after five games.

The Hamilton, Ontario native became Ottawa’s full-time goal keeper taking over for Dominik Hasek during the 2005-2006 season after the Czech was lost to a groin injury.
Over the last season he stared in 58 games and finished with a 33-16-6 record with a 2.47 goals- against average and five shutouts.

He defended Ottawa’s goal for all their 20 playoff games last season and was 13-7 with three shutouts and a 2.26 GAA.

The Ottawa Senators is the only club at which Emery played. Over four seasons the 25-year-old recorded a 59-27-10 mark with eight shutouts and a 2.59 GAA.
