Perry Answers To ‘Why Did I Get Married’

And this week’s box office first position goes to Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?” recording $21.5 million in revenue, winning the battle after direct competition with “The Game Plan” that earned $11.5 million and “Michael Clayton” and “We Own The Night”, too busy to win the third place, with an estimated $ 11 million.

Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Tasha Smith and Sharon Leal made a more gripping team than Walt Disney Co.'s Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson or impressive George Clooney or the combination Joaquin Phoenix + Eva Mendes + Robert Duvall, and this has a unique explanation. Perry’s movies have been constantly underestimated because his main public is made up of rare movie-goers that are difficult to be estimated. But this might be the last time critics make that mistake.

Perry’s work targets black people as usual, and tries to convey strong messages all throughout the plot. The movie seems to be therapeutic and the characters create the impression that they rather talk to the audience and try to give them solutions to their problems than to theirs.

The story isn’t spectacular, but is indeed catchy, having in the center four couples that, inevitably have issues. Whether it is about physical complexes that are augmented by ruthless spouse, or constant fights over alcohol consuming and unemployment, a workaholic wife or some wounds in the past, the four couples cover a suite of marital issues to become almost a guideline to real-life pairs.

There is something charismatic about Perry’s movies and this makes no exemption, and you should see it for yourself.
