US Ski Racer Scott Macartney Recovering Well From Horror Crash
United States ski racer Scott Macartney is recovering extremely well after his awful crash at the Kitzbuehel downhill race, doctors say, announcing that it has been brought out of an induced coma.

Race organizers and US officials declared on Sunday that the ski racer will have to remain in an Innsbruck clinic in order to be under permanent surveillance until he would recover completely.

"He will fully recover," the Austrian race organizers said in a statement. They also said that Macartney was "already making jokes again,” according to the US officials.

Charles Rich, Macartney’s doctor, gave him "a very good prognosis," The US ski federation reported. Due to a high-speed crash right on the final jump, just before the finish line of what is said to be the world's most difficult downhill race, Macartney suffered a severe concussion and he had to be put into an artificial coma in the Innsbruck clinic on Saturday afternoon.

During the crash, Macartney lost his helmet, so that when his head hit the hard ground, he lost his consciousness as he slid over the line in front of a packed crowd.
