“Yes We Can,” The Democratic Ode

Black Eyed Peas’ frontman, will.i.am did a considerable work to sustain Barack Obama’s political campaign.

The viral video “Yes We Can,” which he says it is inspired by the message transmitted by Obama united a series of A-list celebrities to sing in the video. It’s interesting that the song, that is sure to become a hit, hasn’t been demanded by Obama’s camp. Will.i.am announced that he had no intention to sell the song, being free assuring that it would be reached by a larger number of people.

“It was as if he was talking to me. It was as if he was talking to and defending everything that made me who I am. I took that speech, and I wanted everyone else to be inspired by that speech as I was,” the rapper said on Tuesday night while Obama and Hillary Clinton contended for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The Black Eyed Peas member explained that it took his two days to write the song and produce the video, and until the moment no one from Obama’s team has contacted him.

“Yes We Can” features Obama’s voice, added to the melody written by will.i.am and the speeches of the other guests. Celebrities like Scarlet Johansson, Kate Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, John Legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock, Common and many others joined the team supporting the essential message: change and hope.

“Yes We Can” has been the most viewed video on YouTube, totalizing more than 3.7 million views.
