Senators and Ducks Will Reacquaint Each Other in the Finals

The two teams that reached the Stanley Cup finals, the Ottawa Senators and the Anaheim Ducks, aren’t familiar with each other at all.
Their last meeting took place in January 2006 when the Ducks won 4-3 in Ottawa.
The Senators haven’t played in Anaheim since Oct. 17, 2003 when they won 3-0. At that time, their current coach Bryan Murray was the General Manager of the Ducks.

The Anaheim Ducks lead the all-time series 8-7-3.
They have the chance to reacquaint themselves tonight in the first game of the Stanley Cup finals.

''It's a little bit weird to meet a team in the finals that you haven't seen all season. It's going to be a different experience come Monday,'' said Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf.
''They're a strong skating team, they score a lot and they're at the top of their game, same as we are. It should be fun. Anyone can make their predictions, but until you see the two teams clash, it's really hard to say what's going to happen,'' he added.

Anaheim reached the Stanley Cup finals in 2003 when they lost the title in seven games to the New Jersey Devils. The Ottawa Senators are at their first appearance in the finals.

The Senators’ roster is injury free. On the other hand, the Ducks will miss their left-winger Chris Kunitz, who is out of the playoffs due to his broken right hand.

Time will be an important issue for the Senators as they didn’t play since ousting top-seeded Buffalo on May 19. Ottawa hasn't been out of the Eastern Time zone since March 4 and will have to accommodate to the East Coast prime time.

"We're just changing our clocks for a couple of days," said coach Bryan Murray. "People have to make adjustments in this league if you're going to be competitive."
