Wesley Snipes Free to Travel for Work

Wesley Snipes is free to travel for work while he waits to go to court for an appeal on his conviction on tax evasion charges. In February the famous actor was found guilty on three misdemeanour charges for failing to file tax returns, but he was acquitted on some more serious charges of conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and fraud regarding the tax payment.

Snipes was sentenced in April to three years in prison for failing to file tax returns but the court allowed him to remain free until his attorneys appeal his tax convictions. The jury also convicted two co-defendants, Eddie Ray Kahn and Mr. Rosile, on felony charges. The actor’s lawyers said he was dragged in this case due to his celebrity.

Senior US District Judge William Terrell Hodges ruled that Snipes is allowed to go to London this month to complete postproduction on the horror film “Gallowwalker” and then to Bangkok in September to film the action flick “Chasing the Dragon,” E! Online reported.

In the past years “White Man Can’t Jump” and “Jungle Fever” star started to work as a film producer. The 45-year-old action actor will return on the big screen on the 2009’s “Gallowwalker.” The actor is best known for his roles in action movies like “Demolition Man,” with Sylvester Stallone, “Rising Sun” and “Passenger 57.”
